'3 in 1 approach to Lower back pain'

The 3 in1 approach in back pain.

Here at BetterNOW! healthcare we are able to offer not only single practitioner appointment but also the option of being assessed by all 3 professionals at the same time. This enables a more detailed and thorough assessment to be carried out, coming up with a clear and accurate diagnosis and treatment strategy.

What does it involve and why???

Podiatry/Chiropody-

It is hard to believe that your feet play such an important role in lower back pain however they most certainly do. Pain can even progress as far as your neck and shoulders due to the abnormal knee/hip and spinal positioning.

Long term adaptations of bad foot positioning can also cause muscles and joints to stiffen leading to PAIN!

BetterNOW! healthcare will be able to carefully analyse your feet, looking at positioning in both standing and during gait in order to make an accurate orthotic for your shoe if needed. This will help to re-align your entire lower limb as well as lower back, thus reducing the stress on your lower back.

Osteopathy-

Lower back pain is a very common musculoskeletal complaint and may be the result of abnormal lower limb and foot positioning. Although common for the foot to influence the lower back, the lower back and pelvis can also adversely affect our lower limb and foot positioning.

Osteopathy can provide an answer to any increased spinal or muscular stiffness in your lower back which may be contributing to your symptoms. Techniques including mobilisation and manipulation may be employed.

Physiotherapy-

Physiotherapy will help to strengthen the key muscles involved in aligning your lower limb so that you can regain good foot and ankle control when standing and walking. Physio will also be able to increase strength and stability of lower back/core/hips and knees to allow you to return to full strength and function, whilst helping to greatly reduce the likelihood of pain recurrence.

Physio’s can use techniques such as soft tissue massage, joint mobilisation as well as ultrasound to reduce pain and muscle tightness.
